Shadow Work Reflection: Embracing Growth and Letting Go Under the Full Moon in Scorpio

As we move through the powerful energy of the full moon in Scorpio, we’re invited to examine our relationships, particularly those that may be coming to a natural close. This transition brings heightened awareness to the ways we often villainize ourselves and others when paths diverge. It’s easy to get caught in narratives that place blame, fuel self-judgment, or validate our fears, especially as we approach the holiday season—a period that often stirs deep-rooted triggers. But what if, instead of creating narratives of conflict, we chose to honor where each of us is on our journey?

Scorpio’s energy illuminates the shadowy corners of our emotional landscapes, calling us to confront our patterns. There’s a space within each of us that, in times of transition, craves security. Our tendency to intellectualize emotions often means we seek out stories that confirm our feelings and shield us from deeper discomfort. Yet, when we rely too heavily on these narratives, especially those rooted in past fears, we risk repeating cycles. We might unknowingly carry forward stories where we were victims of circumstances or relationships—stories that feed into the same wounds we’re working to heal.

The real shift occurs when we can sit with these emotions without attaching them to past narratives. By honoring our feelings as they arise, without the weight of old stories, we step into the present moment with greater clarity. Here, we begin to see our emotions as guides rather than burdens. In the space between thought and feeling, we give ourselves permission to choose differently—aligning with our higher self, rather than our wounded self.

This practice isn’t about suppressing pain or glossing over our experiences but learning to observe them without allowing the mind to create loops that fuel the very wounds we’re aiming to transcend. True healing calls us to witness our emotions from the heart rather than the mind, choosing actions rooted in respect, integrity, and truth.

For each of us, this looks different in real time. It may mean expressing our truth without attachment to a specific outcome or trusting that the universe is guiding us in ways we can’t yet understand. As we experience this, we begin to activate a deeper sense of self-awareness and trust. We realize that our role isn’t necessarily to understand every aspect of a situation but to live it fully, allowing the experience itself to reveal our next steps.

Drawing from shamanic teachings, like those of Don Miguel Ruiz, and ancient yogic philosophies, we find reminders of the importance of self-honor, presence, and authenticity. Ruiz’s "Four Agreements" guide us to be impeccable with our word, avoid taking things personally, refrain from making assumptions, and always do our best—principles that remind us to release the need for control and lean into trust. In yoga, we learn the value of non-attachment (vairagya) and truthfulness (satya), which together form the bedrock for honest and compassionate living.

It’s in this spirit of honoring both light and shadow that we allow ourselves to be fully human: soft and strong, calm and chaotic, creative and restful. As I navigate my own journey, I am reminded that analyzing or intellectualizing the actions of others ultimately doesn’t serve my highest good. To fully respect and honor myself, I choose to release what no longer aligns—even if that means starting anew. This choice isn’t rooted in resentment but in self-respect and trust in my capacity to listen, flow, create, and be resilient.

Life is about holding both polarities with grace and acceptance. We are allowed to be perfectly imperfect. To be both everything and nothing at all. This full moon, let’s use Scorpio’s transformative energy to remind ourselves that we are divinely guided and held, even as we step into the unknown. May this reflection serve as a gentle invitation for you to honor your own journey, trusting that every experience—no matter how challenging—is a catalyst for growth and deeper connection to self.
